Something That Would Be Useful Would Be A Config Option That Lets You Change The Protocol Version From The Current To Something Else, In This Case Updating To 1.5.2, Or Possibly Even Downgrading.

It is possible to implement, but the question is why. Why would you want to downgrade? It seems like a lot of work on the programming side for a futile cause - you can just download an older build. As for the ability to add support for newer versions, well, that has to be done manually as the protocol innards often change in between game breaking updates, just as plugins break, so a manual fix up is required.

What happened for 1.5.2 is actually a very rare occurance, so I don't see this having much benefit if it's implemented.

While this doesn't happen often, when it does it is a time when users search for other servers that have already updated. This is a point in time when servers lose players if they don't update quickly enough. Adding a config option would make it very easy for users to change between versions as they please, and would always have a default option for that build that would be easier for the users to leave if they didn't know what that option did.

    I may consider this then.

    EDIT: No longer necessary.
